Cape Thoroughbred Sales (CTS), in consideration of the ramifications of Covid-19, has extended its bonus initiative announced in October 2019, prior to the 2019 CTS Ready To Run Sale, to 21 April 2021.
The three bonuses of R250,000 each, intended to be paid to the first three juvenile stakes winners bought at the 2019 renewal of the sale, held last November, will now be valid until the extended date.
CTS’s newly appointed Marketing and Bloodstock Director, Grant Knowles, commented: “The two-year-old season is over, and we’ve lost a heap of races. Trainers were not able to plan programmes for their runners as effectively as possible, not all preparation runs were available and the money was not won.
“CTS has extended our bonus offer until April 2021. Any 2019 Ready to Run Graduate winning a stakes race from now until end April, will win the bonus. The same horse cannot win all three bonuses if he wins all three stakes races. The bonuses are separate, meant for three different individual runners,” he said.
All graduates sold on the 2019 sale will qualify for a R1,25-million race for three-year-olds, to be staged the day after the 2020 Ready To Run Sale. This will be the richest sales race in South Africa, aimed at and being staged at the right time for those thoroughbreds who take a bit more time to mature.
