CTS Ready To Run purchase Majestic Mambo has been installed 5-2 favourite for the Gr2 Gauteng Guineas at Turffontein on 3 March.

The Hyperpaint Syndicate’s unbeaten three-year-old drew, a R40,000 buy, drew favourably for the Gr2 Gauteng Guineas – his inititial Number 11 draw will probably come down to 7 or 8 when the final field is declared next week.

Mike de Kock’s boom horse Mustaqeem (23) and Stuart Pettigrew’s Surcharge (18) were unlucky at the draw and there will be brainstorming in their respective stables before they are accepted to race, or not, at 11 am next Thursday.

There is more good news for Majestic Mambo’s followers.  The colt has been shifting around, green as grass and hard to ride, in his three unbeaten runs so far, but his trainer Paul Peter reported marked improvement in this regard.

Peter commented:  “Majestic Mambo’s manners have improved, he is really cool. We’ve been racing him between other horses, trying to teach him to run straight, and he’s responded. “Majestic Mambo is focusing better now, he is working very well, he is sound and in a good space so touch wood it is all systems go for the Guineas!”
