You will find three stud farms under alphabet “D” in the catalogue for this week’s CTS April Yearling Sale.
Daytona Stud, Digteby Stud and Drakenstein Stud have small drafts, but all worth a look at.
What A Winter stamps his foals – both Daytona and Drakenstein have What A Winter colts that closely resemble their sire.
Lot 63 is Ulterior Motive (Daytona), of whom Mike Barnard says: “He looks just like his dad and we should know, we bred What A Winter. This is a lovely colt.”
Ross Fuller of Drakenstein noted about What A Winter’s Cape Of Storms (Lot 186): “He’s a strong colt, he looks just like his old man!”
Drakenstein also have a What A Winter filly on offer, a daughter of Joyous Flight, from a family of good sprinters and described as “athletic, a good walker”.
Drakenstein’s Select Session entry is Black Duke (Lot 73), another good walker, “a nice colt by Duke Of Marmalade from a good family”.
Digteby’s sole consignment is Lot 138, a filly by in-demand Querari from two-time winner Moulin Royale, by Rebel King.
