Paul and Lindi Garlicki of Connemara Stud’s Cape Premier Sale will be over early – their three lots consigned should all be sold within the first hour. This will not detract from buyers’ interest because, as Paul says: “This is probably our best yearlings ever brought to a sale, pedigree and conformation wise!”
Again, new stallion Rafeef is prominently fancied and Paul said Lot 2 is perhaps his choice of the three. He said: “Inspector Ric Wylie from New Zealand liked him, said he’s a typical Redoute’s Choice and Ric has seen many of them. He is big, strong and correct, we named him Napoleon. Ridgemont bought his dam Jambalaya’s half-sister, they obviously like the family.”
Lot 13 is Kwinta’s Light, a filly from the in-demand Gimmethegreenlight and Gr3 winner Kwinta, by Kahal. Kwinta herself is a sister to two stakes winners. “This filly is big and attractive, with good legs.”
Lot 27 is Maryah, a bay filly by Querari from Mary Hinge, by Second Empire. “Her half-sister Mary O (by Oratorio) recently won the Beach Beauty Mile. She is highly rated and will win more. Our filly here is lovely, big and athletic. By mating Mary Hinge to Querari we kept the German influence, tried to replicate it,” said Paul.
