Winterbach Stud has three colts and a filly consigned to the De Grendel CTS Cape Premier Yearling Sale on Sunday, and Hendrik Winterbach Jnr said he has high hopes for his four quality lots.

He commented: “We’re looking forward to the sale. We have only four to look at, but they are all smart, eye-catching types, and we are expecting a good auction.”

He described them:

Lot 67: Colt by Gimmethegreenlight – Jets-A-Blazing

“This is the first of our colts, named Noon Day Gun, and we just love his name to start. He is by Gimmethegreenlight, and is the second foal of a Captain Al mare Jets-A-Blazing, who won two races. His half-brother by Futura, her first foal, is joining the Snaith stable. The Gimmethegreenlight/Captain Al cross is tops, and then the granddam is by Jet Master, so this is a loaded pedigree. He is high on the leg, nice girth and hindquarters, and has a presence about him.”

Lot 70: Colt by Erupt – Kilcross

“Our next colt, named Fujisan, is a nice strong horse with a good walk on him. Erupt looks promising so far – he throws horses with substance, and this colt has everything in the right places. A nice yearling.”

Lot 87: Filly by William Longsword – Maria Theresa

“She is a good-sized filly, and covers ground. She has got correct, straight legs, a good length of rein, with the Captain Al/Fort Wood cross represented and her half-sister Maria Querol already a Listed winner.”

Lot 105, Lancaster Bomber colt.

Lot 105: Colt by Lancaster Bomber – Open My Eyes

“Another outstanding colt, and I believe he and our Gimmethegreenlight colt are two of the best on this sale. Lancaster Bomber was a superb racehorse, Kahal a top sire of broodmares, and that is where it starts. This colt is typical of what I have seen from the Lancaster Bomber offspring. They are racy, athletic thoroughbreds, and he stamped them. This one is high on the leg, correct, walks like a tiger, and the family can run; his half-brother Look For Hounds was placed on Met Day last weekend. A special young colt who seems to know he is all class.”
