The Western Cape Equine Trust (WCET) will be hosting their annual charity race day at Kenilworth this Saturday. The Trust, a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), has been raising funds to help improve the life of equines since 2005. Its Rehoming Program focuses specifically on the safe and secure future of Thoroughbred racehorses once they are retired from their racing career. There will be prizes, lucky draws, raffles and exciting auction items, the main auction prize being a trip for two to the 2018 Investec Epsom Derby, including flights sponsored by Kuda Insurance, accommodation in a London hotel and Investec Race Day Hospitality – a true dream for racing enthusiasts. WCET Chairman Ken Truter said that bookings for the charity have gone well and that guests are excited about the fantastic main prize, but that individuals who can’t make it to Kenilworth on Saturday are welcome to contribute and put themselves in line for the Derby trip. The tickets are going at only R375 per person and interested parties can phone Tessa on 082 702 4197 or Brittany on 072 239 8463.
