ELISIUM, a sibling to Minding, the much-talked about odds-on favourite for Friday’s 2016 Investec Oaks at Epsom, will go under the hammer at the CTS Mare & Fillies For Stud Select Sale at Highlands Farm on 10 June.

Elisium (GB, Lot 5) is one of 19 impeccably bred mares purchased by CTS in Europe and imported to boost South African bloodlines with international genes – they will go through the auction ring at this sale. The mares are all in foal to leading South African stallions and the value they present to prospective buyers is quite astounding.

Elisium is a grey mare by Proclamation (IRE) from Hiwaayati (GB), herself the granddam of Minding’s dam, Lily Langtry.

Aidan O’Brien’s Minding is fancied to add the second leg of the fillies’ Triple Crown to her 1000 Guineas triumph at Newmarket at the start of May, even though she was narrowly beaten by Jet Setting when chasing the Irish equivalent at the Curragh after suffering a minor head injury in the starting stalls.

Besides Elisium, four mares by Galileo (IRE) will be up for grabs, as well as four by Fasten Rock (AUS). There will be one mare apiece by Green Desert (USA), Henrythenavigator (USA), Invincible Spirit (IRE), Daaher (CAN), Darshaan (GB), Holy Roman Emperor (IRE), High Chapparal (IRE), Mastercraftsman (IRE) and Medicean (GB).

“We’re giving our breeders the opportunity to breed to top class genes. This is a great opportunity for breeders to acquire truly sought-after bloodlines at best value prices,” commented Adrian Todd, CEO of CTS.

The sale, 73 lots strong in total, will start at 18.30 and will be followed by the Cape Breeders Club Stallion Services Auction.
