Next week’s 2019 CTS Ready To Run Sale, for its many other exceptional attractions, will feature the last two unraced offspring of Captain Al to be sold at a public auction.

The late Captain Al, whose current number of stakes winners stands at 97, had another excellent season in 2018-2019, with his notable representatives including the Equus Champions Celtic Sea and Kasimir, while his triple G1 winning son Captain Of All was South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire for the same period.

Captain Al has also emerged as a superb broodmare sire, presently Top 5 on the National Log with the highest percentage of winners to runners in the Top 10.

Normandy Stud offers Lot 68, Captain’s Drift, a filly from the family of Argonaut. “She’s as racy as you’d expect from the sire, with strong hindquarters,” noted Oscar Foulkes of Normandy.

The colt, Lot 123, comes from Drakenstein Stud. He is from the mare Trip Poker, by Trippi, and has been named Royal Flush. “He’s a typical Captain Al, very smart, lots to work with,” said Drakenstein’s Kevin Sommerville.
