KZN’s Peter Gibson of Racing South Africa, Gary Grant of Bloodstock SA,  Adrian Todd of the SA Equine Health & Protocols and Kerry Jack of CTS were amongst the South Africans represented at the Racing South Africa dinner reception on Thursday night in Hong Kong, along with Hong Kong breeder and owner in KZN, Winston Chow.

Peter Gibson reported: “Last night was a great success, our audience included the South African Consul General Nthsinga and a good cross section of owners/HKJC Members and media – lovely also that Tony and Bev Millard were also able to attend.

“Davy Chiu acted as MC, introducing the SA delegates, short speeches were made by myself on Trade/ Sales matters, big HK owner, David Hui on his experience of South African market and his desire to have better access to our horses and finally, Adrian Todd updated the party on protocol developments.

“Thanks to Avontuur and Drakenstein for their kind sponsorship of wine, which added a nice South African flavour to the evening.

“Racetime for the Derby on Sunday is 10:35 SA time.

“We saw [SAF-bred] Singapore Sling today, Tony cannot be happier with his preparation and his main opposition are drawn out wide. He could start favourite!”
