Riverton Stud’s Riverside Grooms Co-Op several years ago hit the Jackpot when they sold Vercingetorix for a handsome profit.

Duncan Barry of Riverton has put another yearling on the Cape Premier Yearling Sale on behalf of the Co-Op. They bought Lot 158 from Klawervlei as a weanling and Barry is hoping that his grooms can receive a nice New Year’s present.

“She’s a filly by Captain Of All from Calamint (Jallad), nice and racy with scope. The mare comes from a fantastic family,” said Barry.

The first Riverton yearling to be sold is Lot 70, another Captain Of All, this one from a Goldmark mare, Remarkable, who has already produced six winners from seven previous foals.

“She is a high-quality, good-looking filly, her dam has thrown multiple winners, no real stars yet but we’re hoping this one will be.”

Lot 89 is a colt by former top sprinter Red Ray (Western Winter) from the three-time winner Seventh Heart by Seventh Rock, with plenty of black type in the damline.

“He’s very nice for a first foal, big and strong. I like the Red Ray babies I’ve seen so far,” Barry said.
