DRAKENSTEIN Stud’s red hot young sire Philanthropist has been in devastating form this month, and his daughter Miss Malbec continued her sire’s great run by making it back to back wins on Thursday.

The 3yo, who hails from her sire’s first South African crop, followed up her maiden win with an emphatic two and a half length romp over 1200m at Kenilworth for owners Green Street Bloodstock and trainer Glen Kotzen, and this Klawervlei Stud bred filly looks sure to go on to bigger and better things.

The soul of consistency, Miss Malbec is yet to finish out of the first three in all six career outings, and this filly, who has run well behind the smart fillies Whose That Girl and Smokey Affair, looks yet another solid flagbearer for Philanthropist.

Miss Malbec is one of 11 first crop winners for Philanthropist –whose first crop also includes the brilliant recent G3 HSH Princess Charlene Of Monaco Starling Stakes winner She’s A Giver, luckless G2 Choice Carriers Fillies Championship runner up and prominent Fillies Guineas hope Sail, and the stakes placed pair of Singapore Sling and Kenny Trix.

Philanthropist has also enjoyed plenty of success in Canada with his few runners there propelling him to the second place on North America’s Leading Synthetics Sires List –ahead of such great international sires as Kitten’s Joy, Speightstown, Smart Strike, and Scat Daddy.

The sire, whose relatives include exciting young US sire Gone Astray as well as the likes of National Assembly, Sovereign Dancer and What A Pleasure, has five well bred two-year-olds on offer at the upcoming CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale:

Lot 4 – inbred to Mr Prospector, this colt is out of a three time winning sister to Guineas winner Ice Wine and three parts sister to the graded stakes winner Rushing Wind and Nordic Breeze, and this also the family of former Zimbabwean star Yer-Maan

Lot 76 –inbred to the mighty mare Grey Flight, this colt (a half brother to a winner) is out of a winning half sister to four winners, and this is the same family as champion filly Culture Vulture, star milers Polish Precdent, Posse and Zilal, and the mighty Intikhab –sire of champion Snow Fairy

Lot 98 – a half sister to 2 winners, this filly hails from the great Let Kiss family, responsible for the likes of Leopard Strike, champion Kochka and graded winning fillies Cat And The Moon and Dash For Gretna

Lot 162 – a half sister to a winner, this filly is out of a stakes placed winner of six. Inbred to Mr Prospector, she is from the same female line as champion and Breeders’ Cup winner Meadow Star as well as 2016’s brilliant G1 Travers Stakes hero Arrogate

Lot 169 – inbred to the Derby winner and outstanding sire Roberto, this colt is out of a three time winning daughter of champion sire Captain Al and her third dam is none other than former G1 Golden Slipper winning champion Burst.
