David Hepburn-Brown reckons his 2019 draft from Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud is one of the best he’s ever brought to a sale. His yearlings have enjoyed some keen interest on the first viewing days and he is hoping for action come sales time on Wednesday.

Hepburn-Brown is most excited about Lot 24, Weave My Magic, a daughter of What A Winter and Cast A Spell, by Rambo Dancer, whose five foals to race have all won Listed races or have been Listed-placed, including Little Genie and Ollivander.  “Weave My Magic is big and correct, light on her feet and she moves well,” he noted.

Lot 19 is the What A Winter colt Tread Swiftly, the first foal of a mare by Jet Master. “He’s well-sized, strong and walks well.”

Lot 122, unnamed, is by Elusive Fort from Millie’s Fan, by Fanatic Dane and Hepburn-Brown said this one will improve with time. “She’s perhaps not 100% ready for the sale, immature, but she’s athletic and everything is there, she will be a nice filly in time.”

Coup De Grace’s mating with Strawberry Shortcake, by Dynasty, produced a big, scopey colt (Lot 190) and Hepburn-Brown said: “He has a lot of Dynasty in him, a nice colt who stands over ground.”

The farm has another What A Winter colt in Lot 216, Shredder, said to be “strong and well-grown with good balance and lots of substance.”

Lot 199 is Captain Al’s daughter from Thekkady, described in an earlier article to be “strong and racy, a quality Captain Al.”
