Hello Winter Hello, a R140,000 weanling from the 2017 CTS Select Mares Weanlings & Fillies for Stud Sale, posted her third win from six outings in the Listed Cordocelli Olympic Duel Stakes over 1200m at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

In another Trifecta for CTS graduates, Icon Princess (CTS March Yearling Sale 2017) and Rush Hour Girl (March 2016), ran on to take second and third places respectively. The tote return on the bet was a healthy R2,150.

Rush Hour Girl, racing in the bright pink and yellow silks of Danny and Ronel Collins, was spotted early as she settled just off the pacesetters, Hildegarde, Boomps A Daisy and Freedom Seeker. She drew closer to them going through the 250m mark and then ran on by to win well.

Basil Marcus, holding the fort in Cape Town while his son Adam is in Durban, said he was delighted for the Collins family. “Danny and I spoke about this race, it was cancelled due to rain but that gave us an extra week to prepare her.”

Marcus was complimentary about apprentice Joshwin Solomons, who booted Hello Winter Hello to victory and said: “I gave him many instructions, he listened to all of them and rode an impeccable race.

“The light weight helped, but she will go on from here. She likes it a bit soft, the sting out of the ground.”

Hello Winter was bred by Favour Stud. She’s by Drakenstein Stud’s in-form stallion What A Winter from I’m Like Hello, by Dominion Royale. She shows career earnings of R152,000.
