Lot 146, Rafeef colt

Ridgemont/Highlands have an exceptional 21-strong draft consigned to the Cape Premier Yearling Sale, a variety including the Top 5 sires, but dominated by their residents, Canford Cliffs (IRE) and Rafeef (AUS). 

The stud’s Craig Carey provided notes on his picks from a quality consignment, as below: 

Lot 146 (c Rafeef – Right and Ready by Whipper) – From a half-sister to sire Potala Palace and high-class mare, Front and Centre.  “He is smashing, very popular here at the sale so far. A lovely mover, top class colt. 

Lot 85 (c Rafeef – Honour Roll by High Chaparral) “A colt with movie star looks. Big and elegant.” 

lot 8 (c Canford Cliffs – Whose That Girl by Gitano Hernando) “One of the best moving horses on the sale by Canford Cliffs out of stakes winner.” 

Lot 52 (c Gimmethegreenlight – Dinesen by Antonius Pius). “He’s a bull of a colt out of the top family of Divine Jury and Velvet Hue.” 

Lot 46 (f Rafeef – Crimson Blossom by Danehill Dancer) “This filly is an absolute queen with pedigree to match. Her dam was a seven-time winner whose first three foals were all multiple winners, including Gr3 Gold Cup winner, Dynasty’s Blossom.”

Lot 97 (f Canford Cliffs – Kindly Kat by Machiavellian) “A filly that looks quick to hand correct in every way. Her dam’s four runners so far have all won, including Gr1-placed Amsterdam.”

Lot 47A (c Dynasty – Cup Of Rubies by Mogok) “He is one of the last Dynasty colts, a brother to Glen Kotzen’s promising classic contender, Crimson King.” 

Lot 63 (c Rafeef – Francia by Dynasty) “A Lovely elegant colt that floats over the ground. He’s the first foal of the well-related Listed winner, Francia.” 

Lot 129A (c Rafeef – Peggy Jay by Jay Peg) “This is a strong son of Rafeef out of a Gr3 winner in JHB. 

Lot 140A (c VAR – Put The Kettle On by Dynasty). “A lovely scopey son of Var, he’s a half-brother to promising tw-year-old, Darjeeling.”
