Anton Shepherd of Beaumont Stud, who holds the rare honour of breeding an international superstar in the form of Variety Club, has three yearlings on offer at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

Shepherd said that his unnamed son of Jackson (Lot 65), was a scopy colt bred from the Canadian mare Glowing Amber, who is a half-sister to the 2016 Preakness Stakes winner, Exaggerator. “He’s big, like his dam, and he’s a good mover,” said Shepherd.

Lot 55 is a “medium-sized” son of Captain Of All. “Let’s call him the ‘pocket rocket’,” said Shepherd. He looks like speed will be his game, he will come early.”

Of Lot 131, an unnamed filly by Philanthropist, he remarked: “I can’t say anything else than ‘magnificent’. This filly is not only from the great family of Trademark and Super Brand, but she’s a half-sister to a Gr1 winner in Chestnuts N Pearls. She’s a big, quality filly, she has everything!”
