Runners bought at various CTS Sales filled the first three places in Sunday’s Listed Michael Roberts Handicap over 1800m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack - moved to the poly from Scottsville due to heavy rain at the Pietermaritzburg venue.

The Brett Crawford-trained G G’s Dynasty (2017 CTS R2R, 300k) carried topweight to an impressive victory from Born To Perform (2016 Select Sale, 800k) NS Tristful (2017 CPYS, R250k).

G G’s Dynasty, who started 49/20 favourite, took an early position near the rail, racing in midfield under Anton Marcus. He moved up strongly in the straight and held off the challenge of Tristful to win by half-a-length. Born To Perform, slow away, took off late to get into third.

Marcus said after the race that he had been concerned about the change of venues as it had suited Born To Perform perhaps a bit better than GG’s Dynasty, but he was happy all had worked out for him.

“It’s a real privilege for me to win this race,” added Marcus, a big fan of Roberts in his younger days.

Peter Muscutt, who runs the Crawford operation at Summerveld, called the winner an honest and genuine ‘push-button’ horse and thanked owners Greg Bortz and Braam van Huyssteen.

G G’s Dynasty took his career earnings to R467 875 at his sixth win with 4 places from 14 starts, a handsome return for his owners. He was bred by Normandy Stud from Dynasty out of the Right Approach mare, Genteel Approach.
