Nadeson Park’s imported stallion Time Thief (Redoute’s Choice), has sired three local crops and his first few runners have impressed pundits, including the recent Gr1 Cape Guineas-placed Macthief and YessirIcanboogie, who won her December Barrier Trial by six lengths at Greyville.
“Time Thief has enjoyed good support from us and other breeders, he stamps his offspring. They’re mostly big, muscular types, many look like they will run as two-year-olds. We have a draft of very nice yearlings at CPYS, including eight by Time Thief and we’re excited for him,” said Charl van der Westhuizen of Nadeson Park.
The first Time Thief to come under the hammer will be Lot 107, Terra Time, from the Jet Master mare Teresina and a half-sister to the well-performed sprinter, Ready Steady Go. Teresina’s five foals to race have indeed all won, and Van der Westhuizen described this one as “scopy and rangy, a very nice filly that looks like a classic type.”
Lot 119 is Bold Boundaries (Time Thief – Uptothemoon x Victory Moon), a “nice, neat filly. She’s not the biggest, but she’s strong.”
Lot 126, Sweetest Goodbye, is by Time Thief, the first foal of Wafiqua, by Toreador, and comes from the family of Kiribati and Yorker. “I think she will run as a two-year-old, she’s a lovely, precocious filly.”
Through the ring immediately after her is Lot 127, a colt by Time Thief from Waking on the Moon, by Giant’s Causeway. “This is my personal favourite,” said Van der Westhuizen. “He’s a stunning individual, a well-balanced horse that walks well.”
Time Thief’s Lot 129 is next. “He’s a real powerhouse this one. He has a big, full frame and good legs.” Named What A Thief, he was born from What A Gal (Qui Danzig), whose best offspring so far has been the Gr2 Drill Hall Stakes winner Perovskia, exported to Mauritius.
Later in the sale we find Lot 184, Angel Of Time (Time Thief x Dove Of Peace) – the dam is a half-sister to State Crown and Megellan and she’s had two winners from two runners thus far. “She’s immature, a late foal, but she looks scopy.”
Lot 193 is Cinderella Story, by Time Thief from Emma De Lago (Encost De Lago), who boasts an impressive Australian female line. “She’s big and muscular, a nice individual,” Van der Westhuizen said.
The last Time Thief on offer Is Lot 210, Rose Of Mine, a filly bred from Fragrant Al, by Captain Al. The dam won a Gr2 and a Listed race. Her half-brother Halfwired is the most recent of the dam’s offspring to run, he has two close places from two runs to his name. “She’s an early foal, precocious and walks very well,” Van der Westhuizen noted.
Others from the Nadeson Park draft are a filly by William Longsword, a colt and a filly by Twice Over, and colts by Querari and Trippi.
