THE CTS August Two-Year-Old Sale held at Durbanville on Saturday evening drew a good crowd of buyers, who spent just under R3,5-million on 61 of the 86 lots passed through the auction ring.
Top price of R340,000 was paid for Good Golly, a smart bay filly by Black Minnaloushe from Grace O’Malley, by Northern Guest, consigned by Maine Chance Farms,
Grace O’Malley is a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Gilded Minaret. She has produced five multiple winners from five previous foals and will be considered a good value purchase for Chris Van Nierkerk’s Rainbow Beach Trading. Good Golly will be going into training with Champion Trainer Sean Tarry.
Kuda Holdings topped the buyers list with four lots, purchased for R755,000 at an average R188,750, while Maine Chance was the top vendor with five lots sold for R730,000 at R146,000 per sale.
“This was indeed a sale of good value and the market held up well,” said Adrian Todd, MD of CTS. “It’s a sale where vendors are offered the opportunity to bring back foals that were unsold for any number of reasons at sales earlier in the year, and a chance for buyers to get some good stock at value prices. The averages were a bit lower than last year, but overall we are pleased with the results.”
The Sale average was R57,213, with a median of R35,000.
