Maine Chance Farms Stud Manager Tm Bootsma has singled out Lot 182, Summer Sizzler, as his choice among the formidable breeding operation’s 15 yearlings already getting plenty of attention at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Bootsma said: “He’s a magnificent colt by VAR from Sommermarchen, he’s a big impressive full-brother to 2018 Gr1 SA Fillies Sprint winner Sommerlied, a winner of 7 of her 11 starts. I think he will be one of the sales-toppers this year.”

He gave his impressions on a few others:

Lot 137: Power Ranger (Silvano x Pine Princess) “He’s a very nice colt, a good mover bred from Gr1 winner Pine Princess, a mare we bought from Highlands. A beautiful first foal.”

Lot 143: Princess Calla (Flower Alley x Princess Royal) “This strong filly is the first foal of Gr2 winner Princess Royal (Captain Al), herself a half-sister to Princess Victoria. She has a wonderful depth of girth, a good prospect.”

Lot 186: Spry (Querari x Spring Beauty) “A very nice colt from the proven Querari/Silvano cross, from the immediate family of Janoobi, Sweet Sanette, Sedge, Serissa and others.”

Lot 201: The Ghan (Vercingetorix x Thru The Tulips) “The Ghan (named after a luxury railway service in Australia), is a beautiful big chestnut colt from full-sister to Victory Moon, from a top family. He moves very well, he’s well worth a look at.”
