The old adage, “It’s all in the Blood” is prevalent in the large Klawervlei Draft at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale that starts at 2pm on Sunday, 14 March.

The Champion Breeders’ John Koster pointed to the crossing of certain sire lines that consistently produce champions, focusing on some of them in his campaign leading to the sale.

The impressive Captain Of All (Captain Al), sire of recent Gr1 Cape Derby winner Linebacker, also the likes of Shango and Cartel Captain, is represented by Lot 18 (a colt from All For U by Jet Master and Lot 44 (from a Count Du Bois half-sister to One World.

Other Klawervlei residents also have fine yearlings on the sale:

Twice Over, the European Champion, has sired Lot 16, a colt from Alaskan Maiden (Captain Al); Lot 124, a colt from Fly By Night (Jet Master); Lot 90, a colt from the US-bred Ixora (by Dynaformer) and Lot 167, a well-related colt out of Spirited, by Fastnet Rock.

Royal Mo, whose first yearlings are outstanding, has Lot 17 a first foal, colt, from three-time winner Alileo (by Captain Al); and Lot 120, a colt from Midship (by Captain Al).

Pomodoro, sire of 2021 Cape Guineas winner Russian Rock, has good lookers in Lot 116, a filly born from Magicality (Captain Al); Lot  124, a first foal, colt, from Gr3 winner My Funny Valentine (Captain Al); Lot 128, a colt from Pacific Lights (Al Mufti) and Lot 131, a very well related grey from Pepperdine, by Trippi.
