Monique Schabort of Paarl Diamant Stud offers a pair of two-year-olds at the 2021 De Grendel CTS Ready To Run and Unbroken-Two-Year-Old Sale on Sunday, 31 October at Kenilworth Racecourse.

LOT 8: Colloidal Gold – Gold Standard-Cavalleria (Ger) by Galileo (Ire) This is a chestnut colt out of the German mare Cavalleria. It is her first foal and the match with Gold Standard, himself a son of Trippi and who was second in the Cape Guineas and fourth in the Sun Met, is an appealing one. From a line that has thrown up plenty of black type over the classic distances from both sides, this colt is bred to stay. “What we have seen from him is that he has a really lovely character, and he looks as honest as the day is long,” says Monique. “He is a very solid individual and is nicely put together.”

LOT 21: Unnamed – Pomodoro-Hold Fast by Jallad (USA) The progeny of former Vodacom Durban July winner, Pomodoro continues to churn out the winners, and Monique has a glint in the eye when she talks about this unnamed bay colt. “He is the fifth produce out of Hold Fast, whose first four foals all went on to win races from five furlongs to eight furlongs. He is a tall horse and covers a lot of ground with his big stride. We think he will attract a lot of attention. He is a lovely mover, and we are all quite excited about his future. Russian Rock represented Pomodoro well in the Grade Ones last season when winning the Cape Guineas, and he always offers value for money,” she says.
