Lammerskraal are proud to offer six smart colts at the 2018 Cape Premier Yearling Sale -

Lot 36 –this colt, named Spanish Boy, is a son of South Africa’s reigning champion sire Silvano, whose yearlings have fetched up to R6 000 000.

Spanish Boy himself is out of the G3 Umzimkhulu Stakes runner up Izora –a full-sister to G2 SA Fillies Nursery third Icy Winter Air and half-sister to Go Deputy’s Dubai based G2 Premier Trophy winner Icy Trail. His second dam is multiple Oaks winner and Equus Champion Icy Air, whose sire Jallad is also damsire of the Silvano sired Met winner Martial Eagle.

He is bred on the same Silvano/Western Winter cross as graded stakes winners Black Arthur, Strathdon and Wind Chill, as well as the very promising Pietro Mascagni.

Lammerskraal’s Sally Bruss describes Spanish Boy as “good looking, strong type who is very deep bodied.”

Lot 44 –Consistently successful sire Judpot is responsible for lot 44, a colt by the name of Torben Spirit. This colt, closely inbred to the Triple Crown winner and outstanding broodmare sire Secretariat, is out of a winning Western Winter own sister to short-lived G2 Umkhomazi Stakes hero Buran and to G1 filly Ice Belle.

Torben Spirit, who shares his sire with G1 winners Along Came Polly, Forest Indigo and Juxtapose,  is out of a daughter of (now G1) Majorca Stakes winner Trojan Belle –a half-sister to Cape Guineas winner Little Ballerina.

This classically bred colt’s third dam is none other than G1 Stuttafords Cup winner Helenita. Sally says of him, “He is a very attractive colt, who is big and strong.”

Lot 148 –Legacy Lane is the name of lot 148, a colt by the leading sire Dynasty. (Lammerskraal enjoyed great success with another Dynasty colt at the 2017 Cape Premier Sale, when their Dynasty colt out of Viva Maria made R5 750 000).

Legacy Lane, whose close relative (also by Dynasty) made R4 500 000 at last year’s Premier Sale,  is a half-brother to three decent winners headed by Go Deputy’s exported G2 Gold Bracelet winner Flying Ice as well as to G1 performer Rampant Ice. He is out of Western Winter’s Fillies Guineas runner up Strawberry Ice –a full-sister to dual Guineas winner Solo Traveller.

His second dam is an own-sister to G3 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Jalberry, dam of G2 Golden Horseshoe winner Purple Diamond. This colt’s second dam is by Jallad –damsire of Dynasty’s top class runners Eyes Wide Open, It’s My Turn and Run For It. Legacy Lane is a special, well balanced colt who is handsome, muscular and athletic –in short, sports the looks the match his pedigree.

Lot 149 –Rocket Traveller is the name of lot 149, a colt by Rock Of Gibraltar’s G1 winner and G1 sire Seventh Rock.

This colt, a lovely, mature well made individual, is a half-brother to seven winners including the above mentioned pair of Solo Traveller (winner of both the G1 Cape and G2 KZN Guineas) and Strawberry Ice. A half-brother to Rocket Traveller fetched R4 500 000 at the 2016 Cape Premier Yearling Sale and second dam is the regally bred Oaks winner Taineberry. This is the same family as Australian G1 winners Barkada and Strawberry Fair (dam of Taineberry).

His sire is a proven stallion whose notable runners include champion Seventh Plain and G1 Gold Medallion winner Guiness, as well as G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Rockin Russian.

Lot 213 –Captain Chorus, a precocious sort who is handsome and well conformed, is the name of this colt, a son of deceased champion sire Captain Al. The latter’s progeny have been firing on all cylinders of late, with his 3yos this season including G1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Snowdance and G1 Cape Guineas hero Tap O’ Noth. Captain Chorus is out of an unraced Galileo own sister to Oaks winner Pretty Perfect, with his dam being bred on the same Galileo/Danehill cross as numerous champions –notably unbeaten legend and sire sensation Frankel.

Second dam is Australian G3 winner and Oaks runner up Milanova, an own sister to 2yo champion and leading sire Holy Roman Emperor. This is the family of top class stallions as Night Shift, Flying Spur and Encosta De Lago.

Captain Chorus’ fourth dam is Canadian Horse Of The Year Fanfreluche, one of the best daughters of legendary stallion Northern Dancer.
His damsire Galileo is the world’s greatest active sire and is already broodmare sire of G1 winners Qualify, Night Of Thunder, Lea, US Navy Flag, Saxon Warrior, Intricately, Rivet, Galileo Gold and Zhukova.

Lot 252 –Royal Attire is the name of this Duke Of Marmalade colt, who is a smart sort-despite being a November foal. His sire, a Cartier Champion and five time G1 winner, is a world class stallion whose notable runners include the charismatic G1 winning gelding Big Orange, as well as classic/G1 winners Simple Verse, Nutan, Star Of Seville and Sound Of Freedom.

Duke Of Marmalade, whose relatives include A P Indy and Lemon Drop Kid, is also sire of 2017 high class gallopers Can’thelpbelieving and Traffic Jam.

Royal Attire is a half-brother to 3 winners, including G2 sprinter Eddie Sweat and Billy Silver, an impressive winner of his first two starts.
His dam, by successful sire Kahal, was a high class racemare who won the Listed Bauhinia Handicap and ran second to champion Rebel King in the G2 SA Nursery. This is the family of current smart 3yo Undercover Agent.
