EDICT Of Nantes, a R360 000 buy from the 2015 Klawervlei Farm Sale, picked up the second Grade One win of his career when victorious in the Gr1 Daily News 2000 run at Greyville this past Saturday.

The Klawervlei bred colt, a leading fancy for the 2017 G1 Vodacom Durban July, had previously triumphed, when ridden by legendary jockey Frankie Dettori, in the G1 Investec Cape Derby earlier this season and Edict Of Nantes now looks a leading contender for Equus Award honours.

One of two Grade One winners on the card for trainer Brett Crawford and owners Mayfair Speculators, Edict Of Nantes showed tremendous resolution, under the urgings of jockey Anton Marcus, to best G1 SA Derby winner Al Sahem and prevail in the R2 000 000 contest by half a length.

Edict Of Nantes’ win was also another feather in the cap for his breeders. Klawervlei bred runners have now won all of the G1 Grand Parade Cape Guineas, G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas, G1 Investec Cape Derby, and G1 Daily News 2000 this season and are currently well clear on the breeders’ premiership for 2016-2017.

The colt, who has now earned over R2.1 million in prize money –with the promise of plenty more to come, is a son of Klawervlei’s highly successful resident sire Count Dubois, who has seven lots on offer at the upcoming Klawervlei Farm Sale. Count Dubois, whose previous stars include champions Asylum Seeker and French Navy, has some quality yearlings on the Farm Sale, including a ¾ sister to multiple stakes winner, and former Farm Sale graduate, Door Of Deception (Lot 9), a colt from the same family as this season’s star filly Safe Harbour (Lot 64), a colt from the family of recent Listed Kenilworth Fillies Nursery winner Magical Wonderland (Lot 79), and a filly out of a winning daughter of G1 Paddock Stakes winner Angelina (Lot 81).

Edict Of Nantes has a Trippi ½ sister on offer at the 2017 Klawervlei Farm Sale –and this blue blooded miss promises to be one of the stars of the sale!
